Dedicated to Teaching Individuals to Swim Confidently
Mars Hill Aquatic Club (MHAC) is governed by the United States Swimming, Inc. and North Carolina Swimming organizations. MHAC has been serving the town of Mars Hill and surrounding communities since 2014 providing a year round program for athletes.
Mars Hill Aquatic Club aims to create an environment where individuals of all ages and abilities can experience the enjoyment of, and can reach personal excellence in, the sport of swimming.
MHAC's vision is to develop and maintain a program that will produce elite swimmers, who will represent Mars Hill in all levels of swim competition.
Head Coach, Tiffany Golding, began her swimming career at five years old while swimming for the summer league team, Dobson Dolphins. At age eight, she began swimming year round for North Piedmont Aquatic Club and Star Aquatics. She participated in age group championships, senior championships, and senior sectionals. At age seventeen, coach Golding swam at Mars Hill University for four years and was all-conference her freshman year. During Golding's senior year, she was recognized as Academic All-America. Golding has also coached the Madison High School swim team, earning the title Conference Coach of the Year.
Ms. Shawn began teaching synchronized swimming to neighborhood children when she was 16 years old. She is a Red Cross Certified Water Safety Instructor and teaches children ages 15 mos. - age 10 at Mars Hill University Pool alongside Coach Tiffany’s team. Shawn continued teaching swim lessons part time while working in social work and as a preschool teacher. When her youngest daughter was 2, she decided she wanted to teach swimming full time. She has taught at numerous pools in the Asheville area including the YWCA, Asheville Racquet Club and the JCC as well as at Mars Hill University. Her love of swimming and working with children has made teaching swimming her great joy.
